I'm trying to think of alternatives to the term National Serviceman Full Time. it sounds plain boring, depressing, miserable, a gloomy reminder that you are essentially a government slave and its basically a nicer word than "conscript".
1 week gone, 103 more to go before i complete my service to the nation. it was really sad exchanging my pink ic for the military green one. it was like kissing my freedom goodbye. ok well, there're lots of people who are pretty envious of my status and vocation as an admin support asst. but its not the slack job that everybody thinks it is. and as an admin asst in the intelligence department, i get to see information most people are not supposed to see.. haha.. it also means i have to be careful with what i say for i can get charged and staying out of trouble is my main aim for the next two years. so basically i have to kill you if i tell you too much. haha.. microsoft excel is going to become my best friend. everyday, i explore it and learn its deep dark secrets. seriously, i didnt even know excel is more complicated than it looks. the military policemen are my other best friends. everyday they look at me, my face, my security pass. their eyes never leave me as i walk through the turnstile and metal detector and place my bag through the x-ray machine. i would advise against doing anything stupid in front of them for even a lance corporal MP has the right to book a colonel for long hair. and i'm just a little recruit, the lowest of the low in mindef where its full of crab and you see lots of stars. if you have no idea what i'm talking about, check out the SAF rank structure in wikipedia.
on a sadder note, my duty as a faithful protector of singapore meant that i had to say goodbye to the friendly folks at sentosa. yup, the 3 weeks there were crazy but fun. we had to endure weird and unreasonable guests. we had to watch out for sudden appearances by the supervisors and those up there. we had to smile and wave even though it felt so stupid. in a few weeks sentosa express will be totally different when the poly people start school and the army guys go in.
finally got around to applying for NUS. faculty of arts and social sciences. i know some arts people aren't too happy about science students like me crossing over and taking up their precious space. oh well, am i supposed to say sorry? haha...
Music and Lyrics is a very nice movie. Hugh Grant is quite a good singer and the fact that he's an actor makes it all the more impressive.
