For the kind souls out there wondering why i had dropped out of sight its because i had my second hospital stay! ok.. its not supposed to sound exciting. it was really painful. i thought it was just sore eyes and couple of ulcers at first. but then rashes appeared and the ulcers spread from the gums to the tongue and throat while the lips began to crack. turns out its some allergy from the medicine i've been taking since my first hospitalisation. the good part was that i was supposed to be in those 4-bed wards but they're under renovation so i got a free upgrade to a single room. one whole room to myself. its twice the size of my own room at home haha.. might have asked some people to come visit me, but as it was really painful and i could hardly talk. and i had nothing but porridge. eat, sleep, watch tv, take blood pressure, swallow medicine, put eye drops. everywhere i went i had to bring that glucose drip with me. i've been given a 15 day MC but i dont think i shall be using up all 15 days haha.. i need to get back to work asap before they think i ran away forever! its a pity this had to happen just as i was getting into a daily momentum and just as i was settling in among new people and learning new things. 8 hour shifts dont sound appealing but i'll have to get used to it all over again. argh..
for the first time in 12 years, i wont be celebrating founder's day in a school uniform. can still remember 2001 and 05 at the indoor stadium for the combined celebrations as part of the mass band. receiving some prize in 03. sitting next to the boys brigade bagpipes at the last celebration at the old barker campus in 98. watching the UYOs form the number 111 in 97. opening my eyes during a prayer in 96 after hearing someone from the contingent collapse. wondering what this whole occasion meant for the first time in 95. each year distinguished alumni would come back. each year, we had to sing almost the same few hymns. a lot of people find these services boring and i'm not claiming that they're extremely exciting either. but i think these are the sort of things in a culture that not everybody gets to experience. the flag is more than a symbol; every colour and shape represents something. the anthem is more than just a song; the motto more than just a catchy phrase. 1995-2006. 12 years is only a small part of the length of the AC spirit. 1886-2007. happy 121st.
