My reaction to the latest syf results were pretty mild. i certainly wasnt jumping up and down nor was i so eager to scream it all on my blog. you see, the reason was that i received the news as i was attempting to cross the croad. now, crossing the road is an extremely dangerous process that claims more lives than airplane crashes. so anyway, my brain thought process goes like this:

Phone vibrates. as i look left and right (like how your mother always reminds you to), i answer the call.
"have you heard the news?" cars are coming from both directions. no chance of crossing.
"no i havent, so what did we get?" the cars from the right have all passed, there's still lots of traffic from the left.
"Gold with Honours!!!" should i cross half the road (there's no concrete road divider; just a double white line) and complete crossing when the traffic from the left stops?
"huh.. really.. wow" *disclaimer: as you can see, i was facing an internal conflict in my mind that was restricting my emotions. also, i was concentrating on ensuring my safety in crossing the road. jumping up and down with joy at that point would have been a disaster.*
"Yeah they were very good..." hey, just a few more cars from the left and the road is totally clear!
"so i guess they must be damn happy..." *second disclaimer: i know that's a very 'duh' statement from me, but crossing the road is a dangerous process, the mind doesnt function properly, etc etc...*
"yeah.. i guess they're going to celebrate..."
i start crossing half the road. thankfully no cars approach from the right.
"well.. they deserve it..." the first sensible thing i've said so far. there's just one major problem, i've reached the white line, but there's still traffic from the left! i am, at this point, quite literally standing in the middle of the road.
"yeah.. i feel so happy for them.." there is just one more car coming from the left.
"yeah..." but this car is driving so super slowly!
"hmm yeah..." should i just dash across? i might just be able to make it.
"ok..." no, i'd better not. i'm in SAF uniform. and the caller on the other side is probably wondering about the monotonous replies so far.
"so see you at alumni later..." ah what the heck, i'm not gonna stand here in this precarious position forever!
"oh yeah... ok..." i dash across the road, waiting to hear the inevitable.
"ok bye.." there is no blasting horn. sigh of relief.
"bye." i've reached the other side in one piece.

Well done acjc band. =)
