Even before you start your two years of national service, you would think that you would make it through. which is why i really feel very sad about the three who died in taiwan. they were just 19 and 20. my age. it wasnt as though they were regulars who signed on knowing the risks of a professional military career. they were just doing what they were bounded by law to do. they were there in another country for the sake of our own island nation. most NSFs probably think their two years of service are the longest two years of their lives. most probably would not think it would be their last two years. the three must have had plans for what they were going to do afterward. dreams to be realised after the process of turning from boys to men. tragic.
